The Fort Worth ISD is offering free breakfasts and lunches to children 18 years of age or under beginning June 5, 2012. The program will run generally until July and resume again in early August and is expected to serve some 12,300 children.
The Summer Nutrition Program is open to all children who wish to receive a free meal and does not require enrollment in any summer academic program. Last year this program provided just over 244,000 meals.
This year there are several ways to find the summer meal site closest to you. Dialing 2-1-1 from any phone will connect you with an information specialist who can help you locate participating schools in your area. Another option is to visit www.summerfood.org and enter your zip code. In either case there is no charge for the Summer Nutrition Program.
Serving times for participating Fort Worth ISD locations, including Richard Wilson Elementary School, are also available by calling the District’s Child Nutrition Services at 817-814-3500.
