Western Hills Primary was opened in August of 2000 and was designed to serve PPCD and Pre-Kindergarten through Second grade students. Western Hills Primary was and still is a paired campus with Western Hills Elementary School, which served the remaining third through fifth grade students.
The two schools were once one school, but due to growth, a second school became necessary. Fort Worth ISD bought the adjoining property on Mojave Trail. A vote was made to keep "Western Hills" as part of the school name instead of Mojave Trail Elementary, as the school was referred to in plans. Parents, students, and faculty voted to make the school colors blue and silver and the school mascot the Dolphin.
In the school year 2007-2008, WHP started the process to become a bilingual school with the dual language program. Pre-K and Kindergarten dual language classes were started and then in 2008-2009 1st grade dual language classes were added. In 2009-2010, 2nd grade dual language classes began. With the school year 2010-2011 all second grade classes were moved back to Western Hills Elementary.
The first Principal was Suzanne Etier, followed by Marcia Formby, and presently is Jana Marbut-Ray. |
