Hunter Strickland was recently honored by The Fort Worth Optimist club as a scholar athlete. Hunter was among 16 honorees from the district's high schools. He was also chosen by the Optimists as the third place winner and received a scholarship for that award. Hunter is a very well rounded athlete and student. His primary sports have been Football and Wrestling. As a football player, Hunter received Defensive Line Man awards his sophomore, junior, and senior years and in wrestling he was a varsity team member and district placer all four years. In his sophomore through senior years he was also a regional qualifier and was named District Champion his junior and senior years.
As an academian, Hunter places 6th in his class of 314 and has a 4.7 grade point average. If there was any question about his character, one of his former teachers had this to say about him, "Hunter Strickland is one of the finest young men that I have had the pleasure to work with. His character, attitude, and drive are unparalleled."
