LinkCrew

Link Crew is a group of Junior and Senior WHHS mentors that “link up” with the incoming freshmen to help guide them specifically through the first days of high school.  Many of the mentors have freshmen that bond with them.  Those Link Crew mentors are able to assist their freshmen throughout the year in ways that some of the teachers and staff may not be able to help.

The Link Crew begins each year in May with a teacher recommendation and the student’s acceptance letter.  In August the Link Crew mentors have a two day training to prepare for Freshmen Transition Camp.  Throughout the year the Link Crew mentors are involved in a variety of activities that help support the school as well as our freshmen.

The 2009 Freshmen Transition Camp took place on Tuesday, August 11th from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.   We had 146 freshmen attend camp and 34 Link Crew Mentors.  The camp started off in the gym with fun activities as a group, led by Mr. Jack Scott.  After a couple of hours the Link Crew Mentors took a group of ten freshmen (per two mentors) and did team building activities related to high school life.   Finally, the mentors and freshman gathered back in the gym for some final thoughts and prizes.  Ultimately, it is the goal of Link Crew that the mentors “link up” with their freshman and help assist them throughout the year!
