Students to Sell Work at Main Street Arts Festival
Art students from Westcreek Elementary are among those from Fort Worth ISD that will be creating, selling, and working with professional artists during the 2011 Main Street Arts Festival.
The Main Street Arts Festival is among the top art festivals in the country. As part of its Educational Program, the Young People’s Art Fair is a fun way for students to express themselves visually and to encourage the creative growth of young people.
The Young People’s Art Fair will be located in the “MAIN ST. Creates!” area, and will feature many young artists from the Fort Worth ISD who will be allowed to set up tables and sell their own works of art on Saturday and Sunday, April 16th and 17th, 2011. They’ll experience the trials and tribulations of making enough art to sell to a varied audience, customer service, financial exchange, and more.
Finally, a group of professional artists will be touring FWISD schools exposing students to a variety of art media. The artists will provide an opportunity for students to learn about the potential of art as a profession.
The mission of the District’s Art Education Department is to provide a rigorous, comprehensive, and quality Art Education Program for all students through a partnership of educators, parents, and business, cultural and community leaders. Every child can learn and be successful, creative, and expressive through the Visual Arts.
