I, Dr. Jerri D. Brown, am excited and honored to be the newly appointed principal at Maudrie M. Walton Elementary. I started my educational career in 1991. I was a classroom teacher for 10 years. I taught second, third, and fourth grades. I was then promoted to Assistant Principal and worked at Meadowbrook Elementary and Seminary Hills Park Elementary.
I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Texas. In addition, I received my master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Special Education from Texas Woman’s University. I was born and raised in Fort Worth. I am a proud product of FWISD. I attended Maudrie M. Walton, David K. Sellars, Glencrest, Forest Oak, and graduated from Oscar D. Wyatt High School.
I have one niece and one nephew. In my free time, I enjoy shopping, spending time with my family, attending sports activities, reading, movies, and traveling.
I consider it a privilege and honor to have been chosen to lead Maudrie M. Walton Elementary and to be part of the legendary and historical Dunbar community. It is my desire that everyone feels welcome at our campus. The best part of my day is spending time in the classrooms, observing teachers in action, and watching the excitement as students learn. Our faculty and staff invite community leaders and parents to come visit our campus and become a part of their child's educational experience. |

Mary Preston, Assistant Principal
Welcome to M. M. Walton Elementary! It is my pleasure to be the Assistant Principal at this great campus and to serve the students in this community. I was born and raised in Louisiana, where I received a Bachelor of General Studies Degree from the University of New Orleans. After moving to Texas, I earned a Masters in Library and Information Systems from the University of North Texas and a Masters in Educational Administration from Tarleton State University. I have been in education for the past thirteen years in the Fort Worth ISD and the Crowley ISD, serving in various roles as a classroom teacher, a school librarian, and now, an assistant principal. I love what I do, but perhaps, the best part of my job is working with the young people I encounter day-after-day. It is my goal to help ensure that all of our students receive a quality education to take them as far as they want to go in life.
I am blessed to have both a career and a family. My three boys (husband and two sons) make it all worthwhile! If you ever come to visit Walton Elementary, stop and say hello. You are always welcome!
