Superintendent Scholars are selected on the basis of membership in the National Merit, National Hispanic and the National Achievement program as Advanced Placement Scholars. Many of the Scholars hold honors in more than one of these programs. 

A ceremony recognizing the designees was held on Thursday, November 17, 2011, at the downtown Hilton.

FWISD Interim Superintendent Walter Dansby delivered the tribute, and each scholar received a recognition stole to be worn as part of the student’s graduation regalia in June.

“This ceremony is a chance for us to recognize the achievements of these top students,” said Assistant Superintendent Dr. Sharon Meng. “It is also a chance for us to celebrate the diversity and determination that is propelling this District forward.”

The program also honored a group of Fort Worth ISD Advanced Placement (AP) teachers as AP Scholar Teachers. Thirteen teachers were recognized for motivating their students to actively participate in the academically rigorous AP classes and to succeed on the college-level AP exams.
