Greetings, my name is Irene Johnson.  I would like to welcome you to fourth grade English Language Arts.   I am thrilled about the opportunity to partner with you and your child in a journey of literacy.  My hope is that I will instill a lifelong love of reading and writing.  I bring to you eighteen years of experience in education.  I have worked in educational leadership positions, curriculum and instruction as well as teaching.

My goal is to provide excellence in education through innovative lesson designs that will encourage critical thinking skills.  Please ask your child specific questions about the objective and student expectations that were presented each day.   As you model at home the importance of daily reading and writing; please remind your child to read at least twenty minutes each night.  Look for homework on a regular basis as well important information posted on this webpage.  My planning time is 1:55-2:45, Monday-through Friday; except on Wednesdays.  Wednesday is the time when the fourth grade teachers, administrators and instructional team members meet to discuss academic plans that will help foster school wide success.
