The Fort Worth ISD Board of Education appointed a new principal for Southwest High School on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
Gayla Dawson comes to Southwest from Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School, where she also served as principal.
Ms. Dawson just finished her 28th year as an educator and her 6th year as a high school principal. Before becoming an administrator, she was an English teacher and also Staff Developer for Writing for FWISD. She has taught in Louisiana, Maryland and Texas.
She received her undergraduate degree and M.Ed. in English from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana and her Master’s Degree in Administration from UTA.
Ms. Dawson lives with her husband, Chuck, and their Doberman, Zoe. She has four grown children and five beautiful grandchildren.
