UIL Broadcast Journalism Contests
Students within the Southwest High School Gold Seal Program of Choice for Broadcast Journalism/Media Technology win at state level of the UIL ILPC (Interscholastic League Press Conference) broadcast journalism contests. The students competed in contests against 4A and 5A high schools with either broadcast journalism or audio video production programs.
In the feature story category, the team of Joey McReynolds and Brittany Polonio placed 1st.
The Advanced Media Program (AMP) show about the economy placed 2nd.
In anchor presentation, Joey McReynolds placed 2nd.
In directing Lisa Le, placed 2nd.
In Sports Play-by-Play, Jake Jehring placed 2nd.
Overall, the Southwest High School students that participate in the Advanced Media Program received a Broadcast Gold Star Rating. This was awarded to the top four programs in the state for audio video production and broadcast journalism.
You can watch these students on the FWISD cable channel (ATT U-verse 99 and Charter Channel 30) from 12:30-1:00 p.m. AMP Cafe is broadcast live from the EdTV studios in the PDC. The television show is on Wednesdays and Fridays and a radio show is on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
