History of Mitchell Boulevard Elementary School

Mitchell Boulevard opened in 1954.  It was designed by Charles E. Armstrong and built by the Rambo Construction Company.  It was designed to fit the shape of the land and benefit from the breezes that blew in the hot months of September and May.  It cost $425,250.00.

Miss Betty Y. Mercy was the first principal who watched over the 509 students to attend the new school when it opened September 7, 1954.

August 15, 1958, Mrs. Bobbie Dickson was named principal at Mitchell Boulevard Elementary.
