 Our History

 

M. I. Logan Elementary was named after Maude Irene Logan, a longtime principal of the school.  The school was built in 1953, and was known as Dunbar Elementary. 

Ms. Logan was born and went to school in Honey Grove, Texas.  She earned her Bachelors Degree at Wiley College in Marshall Texas, and her Masters Degree at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.  She taught school in Honey Grove, Arlington, and Sapulpa, Oklahoma before she began teaching in Fort Worth Public Schools.  She spent 31 years in Fort Worth, the last 24 years as the principal of Dunbar Elementary and Junior High.  She retired June 30, 1958.  The school was renamed Maude Irene Logan Elementary in 1975.
