Chloe Lindsey, the eighth grade Leonard Middle School student who recently died from complications due to the H1N1 swine flu, will be honored at a Trash Art Museum fundraiser 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Oct. 15 and 16, in the Leonard Middle School International Well. A group of LMS English Language Arts students used the International Baccalaureate Design Cycle to begin a unit about recycling and global warming. They read “Zebra” by Chaim Potok, about a trash artist who befriends an injured boy. Their final products are constructed entirely of recycled or reusable objects and include nameplates explaining what the art symbolizes from “Zebra.” Art will be sold by accepting donations in Lindsey’s name.
Items can be previewed online at http://schools.fwisd.org/leonard/Pages/default.aspx. Donations are accepted at the event or by mail, but items must be picked up at the Leonard Middle School by Oct. 19. Items not collected will be considered donated property of LMS. Please make checks payable to Wells Fargo Bank and bring or mail to Holly Salas at Leonard Middle School, 8900 Chapin Rd., Fort Worth, Texas; 76116.
