Kirkpatrick students get involved in a variety of afterschool clubs! Students had the opportunity to join a several new clubs on our campus this year, including:
Art Club
As a member of the Art Club, students come prepared to learn more about a subject they personally find stimulating on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:15 p.m. Our meetings consist of mini-lectures on techniques, artistic styles, and how to better oneself as an artist through keeping a detailed sketchbook, learning how to observe things for long and short periods of time, and participating in peer critiques. Students are to support one another in their experiments in design and visual displays. Our hope is to provide Kirkpatrick Elementary with a large scale work of art that can be displayed at the end of the year so that not only our school but the community at large can benefit from our learning.
"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep." Scott Adams
We strive to communicate through our work in the spirit of this quote and look forward to the many exciting discoveries we will have in this club.
Honor Choir
Where exceptional students come in order to enjoy singing and working within a group. We hold auditions at the beginning of the year and after Christmas break. We learn about 30 minutes of music or 5 to 6 songs per performance. We have two major performances a year, one at Christmas and one in May. We also carol at the local nursing home during Christmas time. This year our two major performances will be shared with the Kirkpatrick Elementary School Recorder Choir.
