TCU Athletics and Cash America have joined forces to help Fort Worth kids get excited about reading! The Cash America Super Frog Reading Challenge brings TCU student-athletes into the schools to kick-off an exciting reading contest that rewards your students for good reading habits. Manuel Jara Elementary will be competing against 15 other Fort Worth ISD schools in this challenge.
The TCU mascot himself, Super Frog, visited Manuel Jara students in order to kick off the event and encourage student participation. The actually contest itself begins on October 10 and runs through November 4. The Accelerated Reading Program (AR) will be used to keep track of words read in each classroom. The top two students from each school as well as one winning classroom out of all of the competing schools will be chosen as the winners of this contest! Those winners will all receive tickets to a TCU Football Game on December 3, 2011. In addition to attending the game, the winning classroom will also receive a Pizza Party with Super Frog at their school the week of November 14, 2011.
As you can imagine, MJE staff and students are excited to be a part of The Cash America Super Frog Reading Challenge this year. Parents, help your student win by encouraging them to read every night and take their AR tests at school each day. Good luck Jaguars!!
