School History
William James Middle School was built in 1927, one year after the annexation of the Polytechnic Independent School District by the Fort Worth ISD. William James Junior High School relieved the overcrowding at the Dillow School which accommodated both junior high and senior high school students. When the junior high school opened, the first principal was N. E. Buster.
Our school was named after William James, a local tanner and saddle maker, who helped organize the Polytechnic School District in 1909.
