School Wins Golden Sneaker 
 
 
 

Glen Park Elementary School was recently recognized by the District for its commitment to community health and wellness.  Dr. Surles accepted the Golden Sneaker Award at the Operational Principal's Meeting on Thursday, October 6.   

Glen Park hosted a Family Fitness Night on October 5.  Turnout was huge - with families and students jumping rope, dancing, and learning about better ways to eat in terms of their health.  

There is also a community walk planned for Saturday, October 22, and the school was awarded a grant by the NFL to pilot a new version of FitnessGram.  Even KERA came to Glen Park recently to observe students practicing for their fitness test!

The Golden Sneaker Award is presented monthly by the Health & Physical Education Department.
