Sixth Annual Special Olympics Future Stars Day
Fort Worth ISD's Sixth Annual Special Olympics Future Stars Day was held on Tuesday, May 22 at the Arlington Heights High School practice field.
Under the direction of Arlington Heights teacher Vicki Stellar, 175 "Special Jackets helping Special Kids" wore blue t-shirts as they became a "buddy" to a Special Olympics Young Athlete from a Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) classroom. Other "Special Jackets" assisted with equipment set up, unloading buses and greeting spectators.
The young athletes paraded into the infield for Opening Ceremonies before rotating through six activity stations with their buddy. After the celebration, the Young Athletes and their buddy enjoyed a picnic on the grounds.
