The Hills Boys and Girls Tennis Teams Excel in Tournament Play:

The Eastern Hills boys’ and girls’ tennis teams scored several aces recently in tournament play as the Highlanders proved to be stiff competition for opposing squads.

In the Cowtown Classic junior Diana Gomez registered a first place finish in the girls singles B – consolation round.

In the Bulldog Classic, senior Kasey Williams earned first place in the girls singles A – consolation round.  Meanwhile, in doubles competition Cole Haggerty (senior) and Azure Bradger (sophomore) placed first in mixed doubles A – consolation round, while Chase Beggs (senior) and Carolyn Estrada (junior) placed first in the mixed doubles B – consolation round.

In the always-competitive Fort Worth City Championships, Williams came in first place in girls singles B – consolation round.

Rounding out the season in district play, two EHHS juniors managed to make it out of the first round with impressive wins.  David Trabalik advanced in the boys singles A bracket while Diana Gomez advanced in the girls singles B bracket.

“The boys and girls teams excelled far beyond our expectations,” said Head Tennis Coach Tina Landes.  “We’re especially looking forward to next year when we will have key players returning to the court such as Carolyn Estrada and Diana Gomez, who will serve as our team captains.  Our goal is to balance academics with athletic endeavors so that we have well-rounded students, so we are very pleased with this year’s results.”
