Dunbar High School is the proud home of the 2012 Fort Worth ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year.
Dr. Tania White was surprised on Thursday, April 5 during a special recognition dinner for all Campus Teachers of the Year sponsored by Central Market and the District.
Representations from Central Market also visited Dr. White's classroom on Wednesday, April 11 with a check for $5,000. Watch a video of the emotional presentation here.
White teaches Algebra I Honors and Regular Algebra I at Dunbar.
Dr. White is a native of Fort Worth, attending elementary, junior high and high school in the city. She attended Prairie View A & M University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, a Master of Education degree in Counseling and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from University of Phoenix.

Over the last 17 years, Dr. White has been a Secondary High School Career and Guidance Counselor for 9 years and a Mathematics Teacher for 8 years. Dr. White is completing her 3rd year here at Dunbar High School, where her son, Gary currently attends as a junior student.
Dr. White’s educational philosophy entails optimism in that all things can be accomplished regardless of the socio-economic backgrounds students may come from. Dr. White prides herself on being naturally cognizant of feelings of others and is driven for not only personal excellence but for the excellence of those who choose to follow (i.e. her students). Dr. White’s philosophy encompasses encouragement, honesty, truth, wisdom and creativity, with a personal desire to elevate and motivate all of her students to help them achieve a positive desired outcome involving their educational goals.

District Teachers of the Year are selected from among applicants chosen as Campus Teachers of the Year or Chairs for Teaching Excellence. The District Teachers of the Year recipients will advance to the Region 11 Teacher of the Year and if selected will go onto State Teacher of the Year competition.
