Principal: Diana Puente-Vargas

I have been principal at Alice D. Contreras Elementary since 2006. I also served as assistant principal at Alice D. Contreras Elementary for two years. I have been in education within the Fort Worth Independent School district since 1985. I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. I attended the Fort Worth ISD schools and I am a proud graduate of Trimble Tech High School. I attended Texas Wesleyan and earned my Bachelor’s of Education.  I later graduated from the University of North Texas with my Master’s in Education Administration. I am married to Gus Vargas and have three beautiful girls, Julianna, Natalie and Elisa. Alice D. Contreras Elementary is a great place to work.  We have the best staff, students, and parents. I appreciate all the support and volunteer help that we have from our parents and community. I have been an Assistant Principal at Alice D. Contreras Elementary since 2006. I have worked in the Fort Worth Independent School District since 1999. I earned my Bachelors degree from Texas Wesleyan University and earned my Masters Degree from Tarleton State University. I am married to Rick Cruz, a captain for the Fort Worth Fire Department, and a mother of two wonderful children. My oldest daughter Lucinda is married and has blessed me with two grandchildren Natalia Nicole and Richard Anthony. My son Miles is a student attending the University of North Texas. Stephanie Whitting has been our assistant principal since 2006. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston. She earned her Masters of Education from Texas Christian University. Please feel free to contact her with your concerns.

School Counselor: Michelle Koedam

I began counseling at Alice D. Contreras Elementary in 2006, the best school in TEXAS!  I’m originally from San Antonio, but moved to the DFW area in 2001.  I earned my bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from Texas State University, in San Marcos.  I have 3 years teaching experience in both elementary and middle schools.  After teaching I decided to pursue a master’s degree in Counseling and Development. May 2008 I graduated from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas.  I am a Texas certified school counselor and began counseling at the elementary level in 2006. I love working with my assigned student groups and of course I love children in general…especially my own little one in this picture.

School Counselor Kinder: Kelley Spell

Kelley Spell has been a counselor with the district since 1999.  She was previously a counselor at the middle and high school level, but has found a home at Alice D. Contreras Elementary.  She has been an elementary counselor since 2003 and has been at Alice D. Contreras Elementary since 2007. She enjoys working with children and their families to promote student success.  She holds two Masters Degrees from SWBTS, one of which is a Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling.  She looks forward to hearing from you if you have questions or concerns with which she can assist you. 

School Nurse: Olga Franklin

I’m proud and happy to be the school nurse at Alice D. Contreras Elementary. I graduated from Texas Woman’s University where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. After graduation, I worked at four of the local hospitals before I started working for Fort Worth ISD as a school nurse. I’ve been working at Alice Contreras since the school was opened in the fall of 2000. I enjoy my job; it gives me the opportunity to work with all the faculty and staff, and to know the students and their parents. I am married and have 3 sons. I enjoy quilting, gardening, reading, and visiting with my friends.

I have been employed by the Fort Worth Independent School District for several years. I have also volunteered my time to the District for many years. Alice D. Contreras Elementary is the second school I have worked at as a secretary. I have worked at Contreras since it opened in 2000. I learn something new every day at Contreras. I am amazed at how far we have come with technology. I remember the days when I used to fill out every form in triplicate. Contreras is a wonderful place to be. We are always busy and have lots of exciting things going on! Our staff has always been the greatest! We look forward to seeing you!

School Clerk: Yazmin Patino

I became the school clerk at Alice D. Contreras Elementary in 2008. I also coordinate the Fort Worth After School Program at Alice D. Contreras Elementary. I enjoy getting to know and helping all of the families at our school. Please contact me with your enrollment and attendance concerns.
