What we are studying now:
Reading
Our class is learning how to read short a words, reviewing high frequency words, and focusing on fluency and comprehension.
Mathematics
Students are comparing and ordering whole numbers using sets of concrete objects and pictures.
Language Arts
We are studying writing conventions such as beginning a sentence with a capital letter and ending it with a period.
Science
We are discussing the importance of using safe practices to help us learn about the natural world during classroom or field investigations.
Social Studies
We are learning about the need for rules and laws in the home, school, and community.
Health
Students are focused on the importance of getting enough sleep, exercising for health, eating properly from the food groups, and identifying/using their five senses.
Homework:
Homework is assigned everyday and it is very important that it is completed and turned in for a grade. Homework is used to reinforce skills and concepts we have been studying in class and provides further practice for the student.
Important news and events:
We have a field trip to the Will Rogers Auditorium on September 30, 2009. We will be watching “The Butterfly Story of a Life Cycle”!
