Fort Worth, Texas – Tarrant County Public Health is sponsoring the 7th annual Carnival de Salud on Saturday, October 6, 2012. This health screening event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Health Department, 1101 South Main Street, Fort Worth.
Attendees can receive free flu vaccines, cholesterol/glucose screening, dental and vision exams, mammogram vouchers, Safe Kid ID's, HIV/STD tests, cancer screens, and BMI/blood pressure/ HbA1c screenings.
The Ballet Folklorico de Fort Worth (performing at 8:30 a.m.), the ZZ Skippers (synchronized jump ropers), and The Human Gyroscope, along with the "Steppin Grannies," and "Peer Dads," will provide “edutainment.”
Additionally this year’s event will also feature the first Bicycle Rodeo de Salud - an event for kids under 12. There will be a slalom course, bike safety check and decorating contest. Kids are encouraged to bring their bicycle to participate!
Last year approximately 1,200 persons attended and received:
- 600 free flu vaccines
- 316 cholesterol screenings
- 65 dental exams
- 24 HIV screens
- 112 Safe Kid IDs
- 991 Goodwill prescription cards
- 275 blood pressure checks
- 80 mammogram vouchers
- 58 spinal adjustments
