Annual Fort Worth College Night is all about the future

Fort Worth, Texas -   More than 5,000 high school students, along with their parents, are expected to attend Fort Worth ISD’s 2012 annual “College Night” on Monday, September 17, 2012. College Night will be held in the Texas Room at Amon Carter, Jr. Exhibit Hall, 3400 Burnett-Tandy Drive, Mapsco 76A.

The Fort Worth ISD “College Night” is a veritable mall of educational opportunities, with just over 270 colleges, universities and institutions from around Texas and across the nation ready to recruit new students.

College Night will offer “one-stop shopping” for higher education by also providing financial aid workshops along with scholarship and college applications.

“Over the past 20 years, tens of thousands of students have been able to talk with school representatives and other experts to help make informed choices about their education,” said Kathryn Everest, FWISD Director of Guidance and Counseling. “They literally set their college experience in motion at this event. Whatever our students aspire to, the possibilities for their future are as varied as the many participating schools.”

Invitations for this event are sent to all FWISD high school students, as well as those attending parochial schools and surrounding school districts.

In addition to meeting with school representatives, students and parents can participate in informative workshops about “Financing a College Education,” “Scholarships in Tarrant County,” or College Admissions 101.” The programs will begin at 5:45 p.m. and again at 6:45 p.m. in the Round Up Inn. Seating is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The programs are free and will be available in English and Spanish.  Parking is free at Farrington Field and shuttle service will be provided.

Pre-register for College Night at www.fwisd.org/college and put an end to filling out cards at every table. For more information, contact the FWISD Academic Advisement Department at (817) 814-2575.
